... giving back to the community
In October 2013, members of Nota Bene Baroque Players established The Lumina Project with a guiding mission statement: “Baroque music enhancing the lives of people in care". Supported by the NBBP organization, which has embraced this cause and coordinated it among its outreach programs, The Lumina Project provides early music performance to people in a wide range of care from children's respite to hospice care. The quick response of our local care-giving communities has shown us how important this program is to them.
The Lumina Project is designed to bring live performance to ALL people and facilities that wish to hear us, regardless of their financial situation. However, we are all professional musicians; our performance is our primary source of income. To achieve both goals, we have established a “Fair Play” assistance program. A facility is asked to donate any portion of our fees that it can. This amount is then supplemented with funds secured through community grants and donations. Even if a facility can afford no contribution, Fair Play ensures that we don’t have to turn down a requested performance for financial reasons.
We are very grateful for personal donations in any amount. For the cost of a cup of coffee or a lunch, you can nourish the spirits of those who need it most with the power of live performance. Please help support the NBBP Lumina Project with your kind donations.
